Choosing YOU Is My FAULT

By Sayma Afrin

I chose you in the middle of the night,
When hope was dim and heart took flight.
Yet here I stand alone in the dark—
Choosing you is my fault after all.

You promised the stone of God,
The tears from your eyes so true,
But left me adrift in the cold air,
With nothing but skies so blue.

I chose you when tsunami struck the sea,
When thunderstorm fell hard on me.
The earthquake you gave, the monsoon’s call,
Still, I stand in the rosebush — choosing you is my fault after all.

In pain’s deep fire, I learn and grow,
From broken dreams and tears that flow.
I gave my trust, my soul, my all,
Yet choosing you is my fault after all.
